The Inspector - Team Leader supervises the Headquarters Security Force and leads the on-duty security team to ensure the continuous and effective protection of NATO Headquarters. The role requires flexibility to work shifts outside normal hours and occasional deployment abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the on-duty assigned HQ Security Team to ensure the security and safety of NATO HQ.
  • Lead, respond and resolve incidents and immediately report any incidents impacting security, health and safety, or involving Host Nation Police or Security Services.
  • Enforce optimal deployment of HQSF personnel and contractors to support daily and special events operations.
  • Train and build a professional and motivated team, providing mentoring, coaching and clear guidance on objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and working methods to enhance organisational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain good professional relationships with key members at NATO HQ to ensure effective cooperation.
  • Deal tactfully, politely, discreetly, but firmly, with staff and visitors on-site under all circumstances.
  • Ensure instructions and objectives issued by PSESB management are communicated, understood and implemented by their team.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possess an educational qualification equivalent to higher secondary level.
  • Have at least 6 years of experience as a Team Leader of a security or police/military/security force, with middle management responsibilities, in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Be experienced in the use of firearms and less-lethal force equipment and be able to pass regular (min. annually) shooting tests and annual physical and medical tests.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages: (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; III (“Intermediate”) in the other.
  • Relevant trainings and certifications, including a valid first-aid certificate, knowledge of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) defensive measures, Explosive Ordnance Reconnaissance (EOR) techniques and emergency response procedures and the ability to use CCTV and alarm systems would be considered an advantage.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and Directives related to security and resource management (e.g., human resources and equipment) would be considered an advantage.
  • Experience working in a diplomatic or international environment, demonstrating an understanding of protocol and intercultural sensitivity would be considered an advantage.
