The ILO Internship Programme offers an opportunity for talented individuals to gain practical experience related to their field of study by involving them directly in the work of the Office. The I-KORP internship focuses on promoting decent work and social justice in Asia and the Pacific through technical cooperation, policy support, capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
- Increase understanding of relevant issues at the international level by involving directly in the work of the Office and the application of ILO principles, programmes and strategies.
- Gain practical experience with the ILO directly related to their field of study.
- Learn about the ILO mandate and its coordination with its constituents and other partners.
- Gain experience in working with specialists involved in technical cooperation, policy support, capacity building, and knowledge sharing in the region.
- Develop relationships with ILO field staff, constituents and other partners to advance the ILO’s core mandates.
- Be familiarised with the procedures of execution of development cooperation projects implemented by I-KORP in the region.
- Improve writing skills.
- Gain knowledge of ILO administrative procedures.
- Work in a cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training courses offered to staff members of the I-KORP.
Requirements
- Applicant should currently follow a course of study in political science, law, or social sciences and other related fields.
- The candidate should be enrolled in their final year of graduate degree programme or should have completed such a programme no longer than 1 year ago.
- Experience or exposure to labour relations, public policy, skills development, social protection is an advantage.
- Working (both oral and written) knowledge of English.
- Adaptability to an international, multicultural and multilingual environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team setting.
- Proficient in basic computer software (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Reader).
- Ability to use AI tools (ex. ChatGPT) for analytical purposes.
- No close relative serving in the ILO.
- This is the applicant's first internship with the ILO (only one internship is permitted).
