Provide support to Disaster Program management and leadership within the Michigan City/South Bend IN region. Support volunteer workforce focusing on volunteer engagement and direct assistance to recurring local disasters such as home fires and floods. Facilitate volunteer teams and implement initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program/service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming or specific functional activities in assigned geographic area.
  • Assist with successful implementation of disaster cycle services program activities or specific disaster cycle services functions within assigned geographic area.
  • Monitor, collect and analyze business data to improve services to individuals and communities.
  • Engage disaster volunteers who are representative of the communities they serve, both culturally and linguistically.
  • Support development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers and volunteer partners to meet responsibilities in disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery.
  • Participate in disaster response operations in the region in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, upon completion of training requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Develop project plans & budgets.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends.
  • Must work daily in assigned geographic area to engage and mobilize communities and support volunteers.
  • Regional disaster employees are required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at least once a year.
  • Employees must meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment.
