The Programme Associate provides specialized support and technical analysis for activities related to policies and programmes that effectively meet assistance needs. The role involves project management support, data analysis, coordination with partners, capacity building, and ensuring compliance with WFP standards and emergency preparedness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and support the development and implementation of various activities and procedures to ensure alignment with broader programme policies and guidelines.
  • Provide specialized project management support for specific programmes to ensure activities are carried out according to objectives and WFP policies and procedures.
  • Develop reports and data analyses (on food assistance needs, resource use, programme progress, or performance) highlighting trends or issues, ensuring documents meet WFP quality standards and controls.
  • Verify or ensure accurate and timely recording of data related to the technical area (e.g., assistance programmes and food security and vulnerability assessments) and ensure consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with colleagues to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Consult and communicate with partners, NGOs, and local public institutions to conduct accurate food security analyses and ensure efficient food assistance.
  • Assist in capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national governments in the technical area.
  • Act as a focal point for resolving various operational issues encountered in the technical area.
  • Supervise or review the work of other support staff and provide practical advice and guidance to help achieve objectives according to agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Apply standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can respond quickly and deploy necessary resources in affected areas at the onset of crises.

Requirements

  • Completed secondary education; a university degree (Bachelor's level minimum) in Project Management, Social Sciences, Education Sciences, Public and Community Health or an equivalent field is desirable.
  • At least six (6) years of post-university experience in planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian and development projects related to the education sector or gender issues.
  • Experience in nutrition is an asset.
  • Very good level of French.
  • Knowledge of local Arabic and English.
