The Analyst supports the communication strategy within the organization by creating clear content that informs and highlights the mandate of UN-Habitat Mesoamerica. The role involves designing and operating social media templates, producing multimedia content, and ensuring timely delivery of communication products.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of the Coordinator of Institutional Relations and the Head of the UN-Habitat Office for Mesoamerica.
- Maintain close interaction with the office team, regional office, headquarters, external project consultants, and United Nations system officials to maximize synergies and ensure coordination.
- Support relationship management and positioning of UN-Habitat Mesoamerica with other Secretariat instances and national and subregional organizations.
- Ensure optimal and timely delivery of services and products related to assigned activities.
- Maintain an orderly and accessible information archive according to Agency systems.
- Prepare progress reports and activity reports as necessary for project management and accountability.
- Ensure all activities observe United Nations integrity principles.
- Complete required training courses including UNDSS BSAFE security course and UN WOMEN gender equality introduction course within the first month of contract.
- Familiarize with and comply with United Nations security mechanisms and Framework of Accountability for the UN Security Management System.
- Design and operate social media templates and schedule social media strategy in advance.
- Design graphic and visual content for institutional website and project microsites.
- Conceptualize, design and adapt informative campaigns and visual narratives for social media platforms.
- Plan visual content calendars in coordination with the communication team.
- Propose new visual narratives and audiovisual formats to strengthen UN-Habitat communication impact.
- Stay updated on design trends, audiovisual communication and digital tools applicable to institutional work.
- Edit videos for social media, events, institutional projections and project promotion materials.
- Develop graphic animations and motion graphics (transitions, lower thirds, informational pieces).
- Apply technical criteria of colorimetry, lighting and audio treatment in audiovisual products.
- Manage and edit b-roll material for audiovisual products.
- Edit and retouch photographs for editorial, digital and institutional use.
- Edit audio for podcasts, radio capsules and multimedia content.
- Manage, classify and maintain a digital archive of photographs, videos, audios and graphic resources produced by the office.
- Cover events attended by office staff and edit content for dissemination on institutional social media.
- Disseminate event content on institutional social media channels.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication, Graphic Design, Communication Sciences, Audiovisual Production, Visual Communication, Multimedia, Animation or related fields.
- Desirable: diplomas or certifications in audiovisual production, motion graphics and animation, editorial or UX/UI design, institutional design.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in institutional graphic and editorial design; audiovisual content production and editing; development of communication materials for digital and print environments.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects (or equivalents).
- Experience in motion graphics and basic-intermediate animation.
- Technical knowledge in lighting, framing, audiovisual narrative and b-roll management.
- Knowledge of file preparation for printing and digital formats.
- Knowledge in optimization of digital formats (weight, resolution, reproduction).
- Ability to organize and manage multiple project deliveries in parallel.
- Excellent oral and written skills in Spanish; oral and written skills in English considered an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; cultural and social sensitivity; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels.
- Ability to work professionally and effectively in a challenging environment and multicultural team.
- Strong computer skills including advanced use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet.
- Experience working in the United Nations system is not required but will be valued.
