The internship position supports the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate by assisting in analyzing counter-terrorism instruments and laws from a human rights perspective, conducting research, preparing briefing papers, and supporting the organization of workshops and seminars.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analysing and interpreting counter-terrorism instruments and laws from a human rights perspective.
  • Research and collect information pertaining to human rights and counter-terrorism matters.
  • Assist in the preparation of analytical human rights background and briefing papers.
  • Assist in drafting reports, summary notes and correspondence relating to human rights matters, as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant human rights issues, including at country level.
  • Assist in preparing documents needed for the organization of workshops, seminars and briefings.
  • Liaise with external partners, as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree), preferably in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, OR have graduated with a university degree as defined above and must commence the internship within one year from the date of graduation.
  • Fluency in English is required.
