The Programme Officer will coordinate the implementation of the Clean Energy Transitions Programme (CETP) for the Middle East and North Africa region, managing projects, liaising with regional counterparts and international organizations, and supporting communications and analysis related to energy transitions.
Responsibilities
- Organise activities under the desk, including setting up clear programme plans to ensure successful delivery of outputs and physical events in the Middle East and North Africa.
- Continuously monitor political and macroeconomic developments impacting the energy sector in the region.
- Conduct analysis and prepare briefings for IEA management and member countries, particularly CETP donors.
- Communicate bilateral and regional outputs of the programme, producing content for the IEA website, regional media outlets and social media.
- Liaise and conduct stakeholder outreach with counterparts in partner countries and key international organisations such as the International Energy Forum, OPEC, and UNESCWA.
- Coordinate with relevant country governments providing funding to the CETP for activities in the Middle East and North Africa.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree in engineering, energy economics, international relations or a related field.
- Three to five years’ experience in energy-related project management and liaison activities in a public or private organisation, a research centre and/or an international organisation.
- Experience working with/in the Middle-East and North Africa.
- Strong communication skills, including social media.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and a strong working knowledge of Arabic; working knowledge of other languages, particularly French, would be an advantage.
