The Quality Technician is responsible for managing the QHSE management process for non-medical products in accordance with the ICRC's QHSE policy. They support buyers worldwide in evaluating testing laboratories and suppliers, validating item specifications, and overseeing quality management data to ensure integrity and timely insights. The role includes people management responsibilities, overseeing performance management and providing coaching and training support.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the QHSE data collection, analysis and ensure data integrity, KPI accuracy, traceability, compliance, and timely insights
  • Evaluate data, using statistical methods for analysis, interpreting results, and communicate on dashboards
  • Monitor customer/supplier complaints, review workflows for improvement, and train support on best practices
  • Create, validate and publish Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) documentation; ensure detailed technical specifications and AQLs are embedded in RFQs, RFTs and contracts
  • Supervise daily QC processes (documentation, sample management, equipment calibration); maintain and update the JD Edwards quality module
  • Review, validate and distribute inspection reports; investigate supply discrepancies and execute corrective actions for non-conforming products
  • Manage Annual Tenders and Frame Agreements for Inspection Services; perform Quality, Social and Environmental audits of external labs and inspection agencies
  • Partner with Procurement and Transport to conduct quality, social and environmental assessments at supplier manufacturing sites
  • Provide feedback and issue Corrective Action Plans based on audit findings
  • Support and coach teams during supplier communications and monitor Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) quality metrics

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years tertiary qualification in Quality Management or related degree
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in metrology, sampling, quality inspection and/or purchasing/warehousing
  • Proven experience in assessments/audits
  • Extensive knowledge in the application of ISO requirements
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; French is a plus
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Databases), fluent internet user
  • Able to write clear and concise documents and assess legal aspects of supplier/manufacturer capacity
  • Precise with keen eye for details, rigorous with high sense of confidentiality and integrity
  • Independent with sense of responsibility and initiative
  • Analytical and organizational skills
  • Team spirit and good communication skills with a customer focus orientation
  • Staff supervision and management skills
  • Able to travel for short support missions within the region
