The Staff Officer (Host Nation Support) is responsible for planning and directing Host Nation Support in operations, training, exercises, and contingency plans. The role involves developing procedures, policies, concepts, and doctrines related to Host Nation Support and coordinating with internal and external counterparts to support NATO logistics operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide expertise in Host Nation Support facets of logistics for the execution of logistics operations and exercises.
- Perform duties and responsibilities in support of the ACO Host Nation Support community.
- Contribute to logistics reporting and assessment.
- Responsible for Host Nation Support co-ordination with internal and external counterparts such as Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG), subordinate commands, higher commands, and nations.
- Perform tasks as foreseen in JFCBS J4 internal instructions during exercises and operations for Host Nation Support.
- May be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries, potentially exceeding 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice.
Requirements
- English – good – NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.
- University Degree or equivalent in logistics, transportation or related discipline (equivalent is Higher Secondary Education AND completed advanced vocational training in relevant field leading to a professional certification or accreditation).
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in logistics management, participation in the overall planning, organizing, supporting and execution of logistical programs.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in logistic planning and execution in operational environment.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in joint logistics operations.
- Desirable: Staff experience at large Headquarters, Joint Command, NATO Headquarters or Military of Defence (MOD).
- Desirable: Experience in planning and conducting surface and air transport operations including reception, staging and onward movement.
- Desirable: Experience in Operational Planning.
- Desirable: Experience in Multinational Logistics planning and support tasks.
- Desirable: Knowledge of the principles and provisions of NATO Logistics.
- Desirable: Completion of relevant courses / trainings.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written - able to communicate at all levels.
- High level of interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy.
- High level of organisational and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with various stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively work in a complex and an international environment.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Required to pass a medical examination before an employment contract offer is released.
