Intern - Public Information

The intern will support OHCHR in raising awareness about human rights globally and promoting human rights for all people. Responsibilities include media and social media monitoring, analyzing trends, designing visual illustrations, drafting social media posts, attending Human Rights Council sessions, and assisting in event organization.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to media and social media monitoring.
• Analyze trends and topics on social media.
• Select photos and design visual illustrations for social media posts.
• Assist in drafting social media posts.
• Attend sessions of the Human Rights Council (HRC).
• Assist with preparation of related activities and events.
• Assist in the organisation of press conferences.
• Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

• Applicants must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent or higher) or have completed such a degree, preferably in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related field.
• If selected, must commence the internship on the date indicated on the acceptance letter.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is an asset.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is desirable.
• Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
• Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
• Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
