This consultancy supports UNFPA Nepal to develop a country-specific policy brief based on research outputs to aid positioning, policy dialogue, and advocacy on family planning and demographic resilience. The role involves synthesizing research findings, analyzing national policies, and producing evidence-based policy notes in English and Nepali.
Responsibilities
- Consult with UNFPA CO focal points to align on scope, framing, milestones, and deliverables.
- Review the multi-country research report by the Population Council, extracting Nepal-specific data and findings.
- Analyze and summarize Nepal’s constitutional, legal and policy provisions regarding rights-based planning and bodily autonomy.
- Analyze and synthesize findings from national/subnational studies, analytical reports, and socio-demographic surveys to inform Nepal's demographic resilience agenda.
- Develop a demographic resilience policy note (5-8 pages) synthesizing implications of Nepal's demographic transition and policy options.
- Facilitate a consultation or validation meeting with UNFPA and key stakeholders to discuss findings and refine recommendations.
- Produce policy briefs in Nepali and English, about 15 pages including graphs and tables, with actionable messages for policymakers and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in public health, population studies, gender studies, social sciences, or similar field.
- At least two years’ experience on research, data analysis, evidence generation, policy brief preparations and advocacy.
- Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, family planning, and rights-based approaches in line with the ICPD PoA principles.
- Experience in translating research and evidence into documents targeted at government, development partners, and other stakeholders.
- Strong writing skills in both English and Nepali.
