The Intern - Immigration & Border Governance (IBG) will provide technical and administrative support to the IBG thematic programme in Egypt, assisting border management authorities with capacity building, maritime security, border control, and integrated border management. The role includes supporting strategic development and implementation of migrants' human-rights and protection approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the National Programme support officer in the implementation of assessments, capacity building and technical assistance activities, including training preparation and delivery under the IBG Programme.
  • Provide information on the Programme as requested and draft minutes of meetings, reports (external and internal reports) and other written materials/documents related to the Programme deliverables.
  • Liaise with other IOM staff members on administration, financial, logistics and operational matters in support of Programme activities.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of templates (reports, questionnaires, surveys, profiles, application, feedback and interviewing forms and others) related to the IBG Programme.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor’s level or equivalent) degree in Political science, Human Rights, or a related field;
  • Enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) degree in Political science, or a related field; or,
  • Recent graduate with a degree in Human Rights, or a related field (internship must commence within one year of graduation).
  • Demonstrated experience in note-taking and drafting comprehensive and accurate meeting minutes;
  • Proven experience in organizing workshops, training sessions, and capacity-building activities;
  • Experience in preparing official correspondence, including meeting invitations and follow-up communications;
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting Terms of Reference (ToRs), concept notes, and analytical or technical reports.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills;
  • Basic knowledge of social media analytics and reporting;
  • Proficiency in using social media management tools;
  • Creative thinking and the ability to generate engaging content ideas;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to draft clearly and concisely;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds and respect for diversity and gender equality.
