The consultant will develop tailored training materials and deliver online training sessions on combating trafficking in persons, focusing on various aspects such as sexual exploitation, victim identification and protection, vulnerable groups, and legal frameworks. The role involves reviewing and finalizing self-learning programmes and protocols, as well as conducting studies on cooperation agreements related to trafficking in persons.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Combating Trafficking in Persons for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Identification, protection, assistance and referral procedures for victims of trafficking in persons.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Dealing with Vulnerable Groups in Cross-Border Contexts.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Combating Exploitative Begging.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on The Role of the Media in Addressing Cases of Trafficking in Persons.
  • Review and Finalization of self-learning programmes (two courses) aimed at raising awareness on combating trafficking in persons, and targeting different segments of the public as needed, in line with international standards.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on International and National Legal Frameworks to Combat Trafficking in Persons: Identification and Referral.
  • Review and Finalization of Protocol on School-Based Reporting of Trafficking in Persons.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Identification, Support and Reintegration of Victims of Trafficking in Persons.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Tourism, Religious Seasons, and Groups Vulnerable to Trafficking in Persons.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Combating Exploitative Begging.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on ICAO Guidelines on Combating Trafficking in Persons at Airports.
  • Review and finalization of the study on existing agreements and memoranda of cooperation and understanding with labour-sending countries, including an assessment of gaps in combating trafficking in persons, and the formulation of proposals for amendments or the development of new memoranda of understanding or cooperation agreements based on the study’s findings.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on The Concept of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons and Procedures for Assisting Victims.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Coordination Mechanisms and Techniques Among Relevant Authorities in Examination, Inspection, Investigation and Prosecution.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Integration Among National Screening, Shelter and Referral Bodies for Victims of Trafficking in Persons.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Combating exploitative begging.
  • Preparation and delivery of one virtual training workshop on Application of Screening Indicators for Victims of Trafficking in Persons in Shelters and Field Sites.

Requirements

  • An Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the fields of law, criminology or other related social sciences is required.
  • A first-level university degree in similar fields, in combination with additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least seven (7) years of professional experience in crime prevention, law enforcement, prosecution, criminal justice, international relations, international criminal law and/or related areas, is required.
  • Practical experience in conducting legal assessments and research in the area of trafficking in person and in the delivery of relevant training is required.
  • Knowledge of the legal framework concerning TiP, particularly the UNTOC and UN TiP Protocol, Islamic law, in addition to familiarity with the Arab regional anti-human trafficking instrument, is desirable.
  • Working experience in the GCC and/or MENA regions is desirable.
  • Previous work experience with the United Nations is desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
  • Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
