The Community Development Officer (WASH) leads community mobilization, hygiene promotion and reinforcement of social norms as part of the WASH programme in Kiribati. The Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process, managing and implementing tasks related to community development within the country programme.
Responsibilities
- Programme development and planning.
- Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results.
- Technical and operational support for programme implementation.
- Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response.
- Networking and partnership building.
- Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.
Requirements
- A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
- A minimum of two years of professional work experience in community development for WASH-related programmes in developing countries is required.
- Project management, stakeholder engagement, community mobilization, WASH programme support, monitoring & evaluation and data analysis & reporting skills are required.
- Proficiency in English and I-Kiribati is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is desirable.
- Regional or international development experience is desirable.
- WASH-specific or technical expertise beyond basics is desirable.
- Background/familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
- Partnership and donor engagement experience is desirable.
- Training and capacity building experience is desirable.
- Strong reporting, M&E, and data skills are desirable.
- Developing country work experience is desirable.
- Familiarity with emergencies is desirable.
