The intern will support the Digital Tech & Human Rights Section in its mission to protect human rights, empower people to realize their rights, and assist those responsible for upholding such rights. Duties include research, drafting reports, supporting meetings and workshops, and other related tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze thematic and regional issues related to digital technology and human rights.
- Support drafting and summarizing reports, background materials, and other relevant documents.
- Assist in preparation for and servicing meetings, seminars, and workshops including preparation of documentation and drafting notes and reports.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Applicants must be a recent graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent, or higher) or a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) preferably in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field.
- No professional work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
- Training, education, advanced coursework or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
- Knowledge or experience working with human rights in general, digital rights, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of French or another United Nations language is desirable.
