The intern will support the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre's communications and social media work, including content production, advocacy materials, event support, and outreach activities. This role provides exposure to international development and multilateral cooperation through practical experience in communications and public information.
Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the Centre’s Communications Strategy and Action Plan to expand USPC’s reach, impact and influence with coordinated messaging to multiple audiences across various platforms.
- Support production of USPC’s web and social media content through storytelling and visual assets.
- Support production of digital/multimedia materials, including video content by drafting interview scripts and storyboards, assisting with filming, and producing regular e-newsletters.
- Support production of advocacy materials such as pitch decks and promotional items to promote UNDP.
- Draft, copyedit and translate various web and social media content, knowledge products, advocacy and reporting materials.
- Conduct technical reviews of USPC’s website and social media channels to optimize visibility.
- Support knowledge management around communications work, including maintaining schedules, content calendars, and databases.
- Support organization of UNDP meetings and events, including joint campaigns, partnership consultations, webinars, and conferences.
- Support media outreach and public information campaigns by drafting press releases, researching media opportunities, and producing media roundups.
- Support reporting and M&E work with production of communications assets.
- Take records of events, meetings, activities, and visits to USPC office.
- Support onsite promotion in outreach activities such as career fairs and booth events.
- Support incoming missions from UNDP HQs, Country Offices and partners to the ROK.
- Maintain relevant files and databases such as photos, videos, and contacts of private sector partners.
- Perform liaison support and administrative tasks as necessary in day-to-day office operations.
- Support other/ad hoc activities as needed.
Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) or have recently graduated with a university degree and start the internship within one-year of graduation or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
- Field of study: communications, digital media, journalism, public relations, international relations, international development, political science, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools.
- Proficiency in social media and creative design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) is an advantage.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Korean is required.
- Fluency in other UN languages is considered an asset.
- Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
- Internship opportunities are exclusively available to individuals who possess the legal right to reside and work in the Republic of Korea (ROK).
- Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan.
- Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- Interns are expected to work full time but flexibility can be allowed for education programmes.
- Interns need to obtain financing for subsistence and make own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation, etc.
