Homebased Consultant - Entrepreneurship Financing Mapping

The consultant will conduct a comprehensive mapping of early-stage entrepreneurship financing mechanisms in four priority BRMM countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Uganda. This includes data collection, drafting reports, presenting findings, and finalizing the mapping to support the sustainability of the YBI programme under the BRMM project.

Responsibilities

• Draft an inception report contextualizing the research required along with the methodology workplan, research tools and criteria for assessing financing opportunities.
• Conduct primary and secondary data collection across Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda.
• Create a preliminary mapping of the financing opportunities for early-stage entrepreneurs.
• Present the mapping to representative of the four BRMM countries.
• Finalize the mapping based on stakeholder feedback.

Requirements

• University and/or higher degree in international business, international relations, social sciences, law, or migration studies.
• At least 5 years of research experience, including conducting such scoping research with published reports on same/similar area.
• Knowledge of contemporary developments in private sector engagement.
• Experience working directly with youth and startup promotion will be an advantage.
• Experience on entrepreneurship ecosystem or market systems development will be an advantage.
• Excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills, including desk research, the development of research instruments, data collection, systematization and analysis.
• Fluency in English (Oral/Written) is required.
