The Head of Sub-Office in San Pedro Sula is responsible for supporting the overall management of the Sub-Office and coordinating the implementation of IOM programming in line with policies and standards. The role involves liaising with government authorities, international organizations, NGOs, and other stakeholders, supporting project development, and ensuring adherence to safety and security procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief of Mission in the coordination of the Sub-Office in accordance with IOM’s rules and regulations, and support the implementation of institutional procedures across the Sub-Office.
  • Participate in meetings with Government Authorities, International Organizations, non-governmental organizations, voluntary agencies, public media and Private Sector.
  • Contribute to maintaining, promoting and strengthening working relationships with national, regional and local governmental authorities, international organizations, NGOs, and other stakeholders in migration management.
  • Support the preparation of inputs for project development and proposal formulation in coordination with the Chief of Mission and Programme Management counterparts.
  • Coordinate adherence to safety and security procedures for IOM staff, premises, and assets in collaboration with UNDSS and other stakeholders.
  • Support implementation and reporting of all programme activities in line with IOM standards and donor agreements.
  • Provide inputs for regular updates to the Chief of Mission on programme progress, achievements and donor liaison issues.
  • Identify operational challenges and provide technical support for programme implementation in coordination with Senior Management Team.
  • Contribute to establishing the visibility of IOM and donors as per donor agreements and context.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or, Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields
  • Experience working in humanitarian, emergency, migration or development programmes.
  • Experience in liaising with government authorities, donors, national/international institutions and multi-stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting project development and reporting.
  • Experience in programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience working in the Region.
  • Knowledge of migration management principles, concepts and techniques.
  • Experience working in post-conflict /emergency operations.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional background.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in difficult conditions.
  • Good communication and coordination skills, and ability to draft clearly and concise reports.
  • A high degree of computer literacy.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written)
