See your match score & applyThis internship offers an opportunity to contribute to ITU’s work at the intersection of digital technologies, disaster risk reduction and emergency response, including its leadership of Pillar 3 Warning Dissemination and Communication of the EW4All initiative. The intern will support substantive and operational work related to emergency telecommunications, early warning systems, and disaster management.
Responsibilities
- Support BDT’s leadership of pillar 3 of the EW4All initiative, focusing on warning dissemination and communication, including preparing content materials, presentations, briefing notes and reports, attending meetings, drafting minutes, tracking follow-up actions, engaging and coordinating with partners, maintaining databases and contact lists, and contributing to planning and delivery of activities and events.
- Support ITU’s work on emergency telecommunications preparedness and response, including contributing to the development and implementation of National Emergency Telecommunication Plans (NETPs), supporting activities related to emergency connectivity, conducting research and analysis, preparing background materials, documenting country experiences and good practices, and supporting coordination with governments, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations and private-sector partners.
- Conduct research on ICTs for disaster risk reduction and support coordination of a repository of case studies and subject matter experts to inform and connect stakeholders regarding new applications of emerging technology or novel uses of existing technology.
- Support meetings, workshops and events related to emergency telecommunications and disaster management, assisting in organizing meetings, workshops, and other events in close coordination and collaboration with partners.
Requirements
- University degree (or completing an advanced University degree) in the areas of ICT, emergency telecommunications, regulation, or an equivalent level of education and specialization in a relevant field.
- No work experience required.
- Advanced level of English.
- Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an additional advantage.
- Be under 30 years of age (Exceptions may be considered for candidates pursuing a Ph.D.).
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate programme, or be a recent graduate(within six months prior to the start of the internship).
- Be a citizen of a Member State of ITU.
