The Associate Radiocommunication Engineer works within the Space Services Department of the Radiocommunication Bureau, performing regulatory and technical examination of satellite network notices, processing electronic notices, undertaking studies related to Rules of Procedure, and supporting preparatory work for conferences and trainings. The role involves applying the Radio Regulations and international agreements to support frequency management and satellite coordination activities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs regulatory and technical examination of notices of satellite networks submitted by administrations and prepares associated findings and recommendations for the Head of Division.
  • Processes electronic notices of satellite networks through the internal processing system.
  • Undertakes studies related to the establishment of Rules of Procedure.
  • Prepares related administrative and technical correspondence.
  • Treats assistance requests and makes specific technical studies.
  • Identifies requirements for software development by the space applications software division, and participates in the development, improvement and testing of the software used for the processing of satellite network filings if required.
  • Provides support to the Head of Division in carrying out preparatory work for conferences, BR Seminars and trainings, and participates, when required, in such events.
  • Carries out other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • University degree in telecommunications/radiocommunications engineering or a related field (science/engineering, electrical/electronic engineering) or education in a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of a university degree in one of the fields above.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in the field of radiocommunication or satellite engineering or spectrum management.
  • An advanced degree in a related field can be considered as a substitute for one year of working experience.
  • A doctorate in a related field can be considered as a substitute for two years of working experience.
  • Familiarity in using relational databases in a client/server architecture, knowledge of SQL and developing engineering applications in one or more computer programming languages.
  • Knowledge of one of the six official languages of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) at advanced level and knowledge of a second official language at intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of a third official language would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the ITU Radio Regulations and its application to space radiocommunication services as well as in software or web application development would be an advantage.
