See your match score & applyThe Associate Programme Officer supports the development, implementation and monitoring of trade and investment policy related projects within the Strategies and Policy for Trade and Investment Section. The role involves assisting clients, coordinating policy functions, conducting research and analysis, supporting workshops and field missions, and contributing to written outputs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the work with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned trade and investment policy related programmes/projects; monitor and analyze specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and recommend corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions.
- Provide assistance for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies.
- Assist in performing consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
- Assist in survey initiatives; assist with design of regulatory reviews and assessments, analyze and interpret responses, identify problems/issues and prepare preliminary conclusions.
- Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
- Provide administrative and substantive support to workshops, trainings, consultations and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.
- Participate in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field such as international trade.
- A first level degree in business administration, management, economics or a related field such as international trade may be accepted with an additional two years of relevant professional work experience.
- A minimum of two years (4 years with a first level degree) of relevant experience in project/programme management, or related area is required.
- Experience in trade and investment policy is desirable.
- Experience in implementing technical assistance projects on competition law/policy in regional projects covering South-East Asia is desirable.
- Experience in proposal design and project development for trade-related technical assistance projects is desirable.
- English language proficiency at UN Level III in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
