The Regente de Farmacia plays a key role in managing and operating pharmaceutical services within the International Rescue Committee, ensuring safe and timely access to medicines and medical devices in compliance with Colombian regulations and international best practices. The professional coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to support field activities, promote rational use of medicines, and ensure ethical, high-quality comprehensive care for vulnerable populations including migrants, displaced persons, refugees, and host communities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of IRC protocols, procedures, and standards, and compliance with Colombian resolutions 3100 of 2019, 1403 of 2007, and decree 2200 of 2005 in pharmaceutical services.
  • Coordinate and manage pharmaceutical service activities including technical reception, dispensing, storage, control, and rational use of medicines, devices, and medical supplies.
  • Supervise compliance with good practices in dispensing, storage, and distribution of medicines, devices, and medical supplies.
  • Control inventories ensuring quality, proper rotation, average monthly consumption, and expiration dates.
  • Ensure compliance with national and organizational quality and safety standards for pharmaceutical services.
  • Develop and update procedures and records necessary for pharmaceutical service operation according to national and organizational regulations.
  • Coordinate and implement pharmacovigilance and technovigilance procedures and strategies as required by law and organization.
  • Participate in audits and monitor pharmaceutical service quality goals.
  • Provide technical advice on medicine dispensing and appropriate guidance to users and other health service areas.
  • Record daily reports of dispensed medicines in clinical history using established software.
  • Coordinate with other health service areas to improve patient care.
  • Ensure effective implementation of recommendations from joint supervision with Pharmaceutical Management and Senior Health and Quality Officer.
  • Implement monthly pharmacovigilance committee meetings.
  • Deliver medicines kindly and respectfully to clients considering medical prescriptions.
  • Supervise and report project activities including proper management of donated medicines.
  • Identify and manage grants related to pharmaceutical services ensuring correct application at each service point.
  • Contribute to strengthening workplace climate and strategic development of health program, pharmaceutical area, and supply chain.
  • Support achievement of goals and objectives of each grant.
  • Complete and submit daily statistics and reports related to care and diagnoses within the program framework.
  • Update program databases and ensure proper management of external and internal referrals achieving effective referral indicators.
  • Complete all necessary forms and collect required information ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain updated records and documents and collaborate with other departments to ensure timely information delivery.
  • Review and validate collected information before submission to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks required by municipal, departmental, national, and organizational regulatory bodies.
  • Support other tasks assigned by supervisor to strengthen and develop organizational programs in intervention territories.

Requirements

  • Tecnología en Regencia de Farmacia.
  • Tarjeta profesional e inscripción vigente en el Rethus.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in pharmaceutical services in health care establishments.
  • Experience in managing controlled medications and reporting to the National Fund of Narcotics.
  • Knowledge of good practices in storage and dispensing of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Knowledge of pharmacovigilance and technovigilance.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to medicines, medical devices, and medical supplies.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical services information systems and software.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools.
