The Nurse will support the delivery of medical services to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Health Officer, the Nurse will provide high-quality professional medical care in accordance with national and international laws and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' conditions, initiate appropriate medical attention, and perform the full scope of duties expected of a registered nurse
  • Conduct triage and record vital signs to determine priority of care
  • Assist physicians as required during consultations, treatments, and examinations
  • Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations in accordance with prescribed treatment plans and IRC/MOH protocols
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, and other basic clinical procedures as needed
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the clinic and provide appropriate first-line care
  • Refer patients to appropriate levels of care when needed, in coordination with the Senior Health Officer
  • Maintain and update patient registration books and appointment records
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other documentation relevant to the Health Information System (HIS)
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of clinical documentation in line with reporting requirements
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, in accordance with IRC data protection standards
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols, including proper sterilization and disposal of medical waste
  • Monitor and report on stock levels of medical supplies, medications, and equipment relevant to nursing duties, flagging shortages to the Senior Health Officer
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the nursing station and clinical work areas
  • Prepare and facilitate regular health education sessions for patients at the clinic, in coordination with clinic staff
  • Provide patients and caregivers with guidance on treatment adherence, preventive care, and healthy practices
  • Perform other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned by the Senior Health Officer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • 3 to 5 years’ work experience as a nurse
  • Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, triage, and basic nursing procedures (vital signs, wound care, injections, vaccinations)
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices, including sterilization and safe disposal of medical waste
  • Ability to respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies within the clinic
  • Knowledge of MoH/WHO clinical protocols and standard nursing procedures
  • Ability to assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Knowledge of Health Information Systems (HIS) and experience with patient registration, documentation, and record-keeping
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records and charts
  • Ability to monitor and report on medical supply and equipment needs relevant to nursing duties
  • Experience or ability to prepare and facilitate health education sessions for patients and caregivers
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health care team
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge of English is required
  • Be certified to practice nursing in Jordan as a nurse and have any other the necessary certification from the government and maintain license throughout the duration of the hire
