See your match score & applyThe Development Coordinator in Phoenix plays a vital role in the Development Team in Arizona, responsible for expanding and strengthening engagement of local individuals, community groups, faith-based organizations, and businesses in the welcoming and integration of refugees. The role focuses on private fundraising, volunteer and in-kind donations coordination, and supporting community engagement and donor relations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain donor cultivation and ensure proper recognition and ongoing engagement with local donors in collaboration with IRC headquarters’ Development and External Relations team.
- Expand community partnerships, particularly with faith-based and community groups, working closely with the Community Engagement and Advocacy team.
- Organize all aspects of the volunteer and intern program including recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention strategies.
- Develop and maintain complete and accurate volunteer records including policies, procedures, position descriptions, standards of conduct, and criminal background checks where applicable.
- Ensure volunteer hours are captured for reporting purposes.
- Create and execute an in-kind acquisition strategy for soliciting donations in collaboration with the Operations team and programs.
- Coordinate donation drives to meet clients’ in-kind needs and ensure donations are tracked, reported, and acknowledged.
- Coordinate raising of Match support through in-kind, volunteer time, and cash donations.
- Plan, coordinate and oversee donation events including yearly fundraising events.
- Provide leadership at fairs, festivals, schools, corporations, and other events to promote the agency.
- Develop and maintain collateral materials for recruitment of volunteers, in-kind donations, and financial support.
- Liaise with IRC headquarters Development staff on national level in-kind and volunteer opportunities, including corporate engagement for Arizona.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by a bachelor’s degree in social work or human service field
- Experience working with diverse clients in a non-profit setting; previous experience working with refugees preferred
- Experience in project or program management, including experience meeting deadlines, maintaining donor records, and completing timely reporting preferred
- Comfort with establishing relationships and collaborating with local and national organizations and businesses, demonstrating strong follow through
- Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual; experience using interpreters desired
- Highly effective communication skills, demonstrating strong partnership skills, emotional intelligence, and situational awareness
- Highly adaptable and flexible self-starter with ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
