The consultant will provide technical assistance to the Protection Sector in Guatemala to strengthen the process of preparing the Protection Analysis Update (PAU) 2026. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing secondary information, applying the Global Protection Cluster methodology, designing analytical processes, and facilitating participatory workshops for prioritizing and validating protection risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a work plan and detailed schedule.
  • Conduct a thorough review of available secondary information.
  • Prepare analytical matrices and work tools according to the Global Protection Cluster methodology.
  • Design the methodology for participatory workshops.
  • Prepare presentations and materials for work sessions.
  • Facilitate at least two multi-stakeholder Protection Sector workshops.
  • Systematize results obtained during workshops.
  • Consolidate evidence and technical inputs received during the process.
  • Prepare technical reports and analytical matrices for Sector consideration.
  • Note: The consultant is not responsible for drafting or validating the final version of the Protection Analysis Update (PAU) 2026, which is the responsibility of the coordinating team and Protection Sector members.

Requirements

  • University degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Social Work, Political Science or related disciplines.
  • Postgraduate training in protection, humanitarian action, risk management or humanitarian planning is desirable.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in protection, humanitarian analysis or humanitarian planning.
  • Experience in preparing protection analysis.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing secondary information.
  • Experience facilitating participatory processes and multi-stakeholder workshops.
  • Experience coordinating with humanitarian organizations and United Nations agencies.
  • Experience preparing analytical products for humanitarian planning processes.
  • Experience with Global Protection Cluster methodologies.
  • Highly desirable experience with Protection Analysis Update (PAU), Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO), Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), Protection Monitoring, and protection risk analysis.
  • Ability to prepare work plans and detailed schedules.
  • Ability to prepare analytical matrices and tools according to GPC methodology.
  • Ability to design participatory workshop methodologies.
  • Ability to prepare presentations and materials for work sessions.
  • Ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder Protection Sector workshops.
  • Ability to consolidate and systematize workshop results and technical inputs.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and analytical matrices for Sector consideration.
