See your match score & applyThe Protection Community Mobiliser based in Menchum supports the implementation of protection activities at the community level. The position focuses on raising awareness, identifying protection risks, strengthening community-based protection mechanisms, facilitating referrals, and promoting safe access to services for vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular community outreach and awareness-raising activities on protection issues
- Mobilize community members to participate in protection-related activities and meetings
- Support the establishment and strengthening of community-based protection structures
- Facilitate community dialogues and discussions on protection concerns and solutions
- Identify individuals and households with specific protection needs
- Conduct safe and ethical referrals to appropriate service providers
- Follow established referral pathways and confidentiality protocols
- Support timely access to protection, health, psychosocial, legal, and livelihood services
- Collect information on protection risks, incidents, trends, and community concerns
- Report protection concerns to supervisors in a timely manner
- Participate in protection assessments and monitoring exercises
- Contribute to the documentation of protection cases and activities
- Conduct sensitization sessions on Child Protection, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Human Rights, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Positive Parenting, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Documentation
- Support training of community leaders and volunteers on protection principles
- Strengthening community participation in identifying and addressing protection risks
- Support the development of community action plans
- Promote inclusion of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in community structures
- Facilitate community feedback and accountability mechanisms
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted
- Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports
- Ensure proper documentation of referrals and community meetings
- Assist in data collection and reporting using IRC tools and systems
Requirements
- Minimum of GCE A levels
- Diploma or certification in Social Work, Community Development, Human Rights is an added advantage
- At least 1-3 years of experience in humanitarian, protection, community development, or social work programs
- Experience working with displaced populations, refugees, returnees, or vulnerable communities is an asset
- Experience in community mobilization and awareness-raising activities
- Knowledge of humanitarian protection principles
- Understanding of referral pathways and case management principles
- Ability to work with diverse community groups
- Basic report writing and data collection skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding and PSEA standards
- Fluency in English
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in the intervention area is highly desirable
- Bilingual (English/French) candidates have an advantage
