Senior Project Associate - Protection (Counter Trafficking) (Affiliated Contract)

The Senior Project Associate supports the implementation of specialized protection interventions within the Protection Unit, including counter trafficking, case management, capacity development for service provision and referrals for migrants in vulnerable situations. The role involves coordination with service providers and relevant authorities to facilitate access to protection services and support trainings and capacity building related to specialized protection and trafficking in persons.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of counter trafficking and specialized protection activities.
• Compile, summarize, analyze, and present information/data on counter trafficking and specialized protection, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
• Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments as necessary.
• Act as focal point for administrative coordination of counter trafficking project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
• Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery of counter trafficking initiatives and activities, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures.
• Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
• Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
• Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
• Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
• Monitor work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.
• Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.
• Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• School diploma with six years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
• At least 4 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a counter trafficking and migrant protection role.
• Experience in coordinating implementing partner agreements, conducting regular quality and activity monitoring, and providing on-the-job capacity building.
• Experience working with governmental, non-governmental institutions and UN agencies preferred.
• Experience in case management preferred.
• Experience in organizing events, workshops, and meetings.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of beneficiaries at all times.
• Good written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties.
• Ability to organize work, work independently and prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Awareness of trafficking in persons/smuggling of migrants/ migration/ protection issues.

• Excellent Computer and database skills.
• Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English and Amharic is required (oral and written). Knowledge of other Ethiopian National Languages (Afaan Oromo; Somali, Tigrinya etc) is desirable.
