Project Associate AVRR

Under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and Head of Unit for Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, the Project Associate supports the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration projects, focusing on operational support, communication activities, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure safe and dignified return and reintegration of migrants.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation, coordination and monitoring of the assigned assisted voluntary return and reintegration activities.
• Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, first and foremost communication activities, such as website content and information material.
• Monitor budget verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
• Coordinate communication related expenses of the project with relevant colleagues and units in the CO Austria.
• Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
• Prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
• Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions.
• Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project, with special focus on the communication activities of the project.
• Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners, such as service provider for website hosting and tracking or translation services, and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
• Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
• Experience with website maintenance (Drupal), content management, and website analytics/tracking tools (e.g. Matomo) is an advantage.
• In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
• Strong computer skills - Word, Excel and Internet.
• Proven project management skills are an asset (e.g. monitoring, reporting, financial controlling).
• Moderation and presentation skills, including in a digital setting, are an asset.
• Research and publication skills are an asset.
• Knowledge of the Austrian and/or European migration landscapes, policies, institutions and stakeholders is an asset.
• Fluency in English and German is required (oral and written).
