Project Assistant (Transit Site)

The Project Assistant (Transit Site) supports the management of transit facilities where Rohingya refugees are temporarily sheltered in Aceh and Pekanbaru provinces. The role involves coordination with humanitarian partners, government actors, and refugee communities to ensure quality humanitarian assistance and protection.

Responsibilities

• Support camp management to meet the basic needs of the refugees according to minimum CCCM (Camp Coordination and Camp Management) standards and best practices under supervision.
• Work in close coordination with IOM Health, MHPSS and other teams to facilitate access to services for the refugees.
• Coordinate closely with humanitarian partners and government actors and service providers on the site to ensure quality of humanitarian assistance.
• Provide the needs assessment and design of humanitarian response be coordinated with the refugee community.
• Check that refugees are adequately represented and consulted.
• Conduct protection risk mitigation and provide suggestions to improve the overall protection environment and safety for the refugees in close cooperation with IOM technical experts.
• Act as a focal point for all activities ongoing at the transit site.
• Support the IOM team to maintain and manage relations with the host community, local authorities and other key actors involved.
• Provide support with refugee movement in line with IOM guidelines and government regulation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• University Degree in social work, gender, development studies, international relations or other related fields; with at least 2 (two) years of relevant professional experience; or Completed high school degree with at least 4 (four) years in relevant work experience.
• Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
• At least 2 years of experience in humanitarian or development programmes targeting migrants.
• Experience working in community based project.
• Experience in working with relevant non-governmental institutions, civil society organization or UN.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent in stakeholder and community engagement.
• Respect for diversity.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (oral and written).
• Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
