See your match score & applyThe Communications Assistant supports the implementation of communication activities and prepares multimedia materials to promote IOM's work in the East, Southeast, and Mediterranean Region of Türkiye. The role involves creating content, assisting with events, and maintaining communication assets under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of IOM's communication guidelines and visibility activities, under the guidance of the National Communications Officer.
- Assist in creating multimedia content, including human interest stories, photographs, videos, and social media posts, for use in IOM’s internal and external communication channels.
- Prepare visual communication materials, such as infographics, social media assets, posters, brochures, and other products, in accordance with IOM branding and visibility guidelines.
- Conduct field visits, as needed, under the guidance of the National Communications Officer, to gather communication materials highlighting IOM’s activities, beneficiaries, and programme results.
- Assist in preparing and formatting internal communication materials, including templates, documents, reports, and graphics, under the guidance of the National Communications Officer.
- Assist the National Communications Officer in liaising with programme staff to facilitate the collection of information and audio-visual materials.
- Maintain and organize the mission’s digital asset library and provide translation and proofreading support for communication materials.
- Assist in the logistical and administrative arrangements for communication-related events, meetings, and visits, as required.
- Perform such other relevant duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, Development Communication, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in communications and media work, preferably in the development and humanitarian sector.
- Experience in preparing publications and promotional materials, such as infographics, is an advantage.
- Experience assisting with public events and preparing human interest stories, photo essays, and video stories.
- Familiarity with using and publishing on social media platforms.
- Strong preference will be given to multilingual candidates (English, Turkish, and/or Arabic).
- Experience in translating documents and providing interpretation during meetings between the above three languages is an advantage.
- Good writing and editing skills.
- Good photography and videography skills.
- Ability to manage social media accounts.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, Audition, Illustrator, and/or InDesign is an asset.
- Willingness to undertake a range of media and communications support duties, as needed.
- Fluency in English and Turkish or Arabic (oral and written).
