See your match score & applyThe position supports the implementation and development of programs related to labour migration and the links between migration, environment and climate change in Côte d’Ivoire. The incumbent coordinates with government counterparts, development partners, and stakeholders, contributes to knowledge production, policy and strategy development, and ensures effective program implementation aligned with IOM standards and national development priorities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate project implementation ensuring deadlines, effective activity execution and capacity building of teams under supervision in Abidjan and intervention sites.
- Liaise and coordinate with relevant government focal points, border authorities, UN agencies and key stakeholders to establish and maintain strong partnerships for effective project implementation and capacity building initiatives.
- Supervise project staff, provide technical support and strengthen their skills in planning, operations and field implementation, fostering skills development and institutional knowledge transfer.
- Identify new project opportunities aligned with donor priorities, government strategies and IOM mandate, integrating capacity building components in proposals and contributing to new funding initiatives.
- Support research and analysis activities to refine LMI-MECC program strategies, assess migration trends and strengthen evidence-based decision making, promoting knowledge sharing and capacity building within the team.
- Support administrative and financial project processes including contracting implementing partners and service providers, ensuring timely submission of financial and narrative reports, and contributing to financial management capacity building.
- Coordinate effective information management by supervising data collection, verification and dissemination, while strengthening project teams' reporting, communication and visibility capacities.
- Contribute to planning, organizing and coordinating meetings, forums and workshops with government counterparts, UN agencies and NGOs, ensuring capacity building remains central to stakeholder exchanges.
- Monitor project implementation through field missions ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements, identifying capacity gaps and proposing corrective measures to improve effectiveness and impact.
- Conduct field missions for project monitoring, evaluations and stakeholder engagement, maintaining active presence in Abidjan and intervention areas to support program initiatives and strengthen stakeholder capacities.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Licence (Bac+3) in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Environmental Studies or related field with at least two (2) years of relevant professional experience; or Master (Bac+5) in one of the mentioned fields.
- Experience in implementation, coordination or support of programs in migration governance, labour migration, climate mobility or development programs.
- Experience supporting coordination with stakeholders including government institutions and implementing partners.
- Experience in research, analysis and report writing.
- Experience in project monitoring and evaluation and reporting, with good knowledge of results-based management (RBM) approach.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and partnership management skills.
- Experience working within UN agencies or international organizations is an asset.
- Good knowledge of migration governance, labour mobility and/or migration-environment-climate change interactions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a multisectoral environment.
- In-depth knowledge of thematic areas related to migration under IOM mandate.
- Good knowledge of UN programs and bilateral donors, especially in immigration management and border governance.
- Strong understanding of rules, procedures and financial compliance requirements applicable to international program management.
- Fluency in French, both oral and written, is required; knowledge of English is an asset.
