SECONDMENT - Counsel Notices and Diffusions TaskForce

The Counsel within the Notices and Diffusions Task Force assists in providing legal advice related to the review of requests for publication of Notices and Diffusions. The role involves conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, engaging with member countries, providing legal training, and representing INTERPOL in international conferences.

Responsibilities

• Organize, supervise and provide legal research related to the review and publication of Notices and Diffusions.
• Lead the drafting and review of legal documents related to the publication of Notices and Diffusions, including legal memoranda, internal legal guidelines, SOPs, policy papers, reports and resolutions.
• Lead the drafting and review of communications with member countries regarding Notices and Diffusions.
• Prepare background materials for meetings with representatives of member countries and participate in such meetings as requested.
• Organize, supervise and prepare materials for legal training related to Notices and Diffusions and provide training to INTERPOL officials, NCB staff and law enforcement officials.
• Contribute to and participate in preparations for internal and external meetings, including drafting agendas, background documents, presentations, conclusions and minutes.
• Represent INTERPOL in international conferences and participate in joint initiatives with other organizations.
• Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.

Requirements

• Degree in Law, preferably in international law.
• An advanced degree in one of the following domains would be an asset: Public international law, International criminal law.
• At least five years of working experience as a lawyer.
• Sound knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of international law, preferably in relation to one or more of the following fields: International cooperation in criminal matters, International criminal law, International human rights law.
• Proficiency in English.
• Knowledge of a second official language of the Organization would be an asset.
• Maturity, with effective oral and written communication skills, particularly in an international/multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
• Good listening skills.
• Excellent drafting skills.
• Good computer skills, including proficiency in standard office word-processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
