The WatHab Generalist Project Manager 1 will manage medium-sized projects in Yangon, Myanmar, focusing on humanitarian needs related to water, sanitation, and habitat. The role involves project design, procurement, implementation, technical expertise in WaSH facilities, and stakeholder engagement to support communities affected by crises.

Responsibilities

  • Lead medium-sized projects, ensuring alignment with scope, quality, time, and budget constraints.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, project proposals, and assessments to define project requirements.
  • Oversee project implementation, including technical designs, procurement, and contract management.
  • Monitor project progress, anticipate risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure proper commissioning and handover of infrastructure and equipment to relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as the Detention Focal Point, providing technical support, quality control, and compliance oversight for WaSH facilities in Places of Detention (PoDs).
  • Guide subsite teams and consultants on design and construction methodologies.
  • Serve as the focal point for electricity and electromechanics, reviewing energy needs and designs in project proposals countrywide.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to sub-delegations and sub-sites as needed.
  • Establish and maintain trust-based relationships with public services, client departments, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the signing of partnership, beneficiary, and project agreements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting using appropriate tools (e.g., PAM).
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert Contributor, ensuring relevant resources are uploaded to organizational platforms.
  • Lead and support team performance, development, and coordination through effective supervision, coaching, feedback, and people management activities.

Requirements

  • University degree (or equivalent) and qualifying experience in electromechanics, civil engineering, environmental engineering or related fields.
  • 6 to 9 years of professional experience in project management in a thematic related to public health engineering, of which at least 2 years in the WaSH sector.
  • Proven management and team leadership experience is essential.
  • One year or more of overseas experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent command of English and full proficiency in the Myanmar language.
  • Strong computer and drawing software proficiency are required.
  • Proficiency in people management and project management is an added advantage.
