The Internal Reporting Officer 1 supports the ICRC’s governance and management with weekly information on operational and diplomatic developments and global legal and policy initiatives. The role involves writing, compiling, editing, and proofreading articles for the Bulletin Interne, staying informed on relevant operational and diplomatic developments, and assisting with training and other tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Write, compile, edit and proofread articles for the Bulletin Interne using internal reporting tools and information from internal sources with minimal or no guidance.
  • Stay on top of and search for all relevant information concerning a selection of the five operational regions to identify the most relevant information to record and publish in the Bulletin Interne.
  • Replace and/or assist the Internal Reporting Officer 2 and/or Deputy Secretary of the Assembly in training and other tasks when needed.
  • Accomplish any other tasks necessary for the Bulletin Interne’s publication and evolution.
  • Act as a focal point between the head of the unit based in Geneva and the Manila Global Hub colleagues for logistic and other issues.
  • Follow up on all work-related messages and correspondence with relevant contacts and departments.
  • Collect and share information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses.
  • Represent the ICRC appropriately during and outside working hours.
  • Take responsibility for own professional learning and development.
  • Stay abreast of the Presidency’s and main Departments’ activities at HQ.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, political science, social sciences, international relations/studies, communication, languages/linguistics, or the humanities or equivalent.
  • Fluent command of English; working knowledge of French an asset.
  • Excellent English and communication skills; mastery of grammar and proficiency in writing.
  • Solid research and analytical skills, capacity to synthesize large amounts of information, and keen attention to detail.
  • 1-6 years’ professional experience in writing and research is desirable, as is prior experience in reporting; candidates with less experience, including fresh graduates, are also welcome to apply, as are more experienced candidates.
  • Good knowledge of the ICRC (operations, legal framework and functioning) is an advantage.
  • Written and spoken French proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel features.
  • Must be open to work in Makati City, Philippines.
