Responsibilities
- Transports people and/or goods, including for weekends and evening duties as instructed.
- Delivers mail or goods as requested.
- Provides assistance to passengers as needed.
- Informs radio room about time of departure and return to base.
- Ensures vehicle is parked in safe area at all times.
- Adheres to ICRC internal security rules and traffic regulations.
- Drives only ICRC goods and personnel in ICRC vehicles unless instructed otherwise.
- Avoids using mobile phones while driving and respects radio communication procedures.
- Ensures vehicles are refueled in time and drives to minimize fuel consumption.
- Fills in refueling data in logbook and fuel control sheets.
- Responsible for goods documentation during loading and unloading.
- Drives in a safe, responsible, and accident-free manner adapting to weather and road conditions.
- Reports road conditions and vehicle accidents within 24 hours.
- Advises, trains, and monitors all carpool drivers on their daily duties.
- Ensures all vehicles are clean and in good technical condition.
- Assists the Car Dispatcher in daily duties when required.
- Checks mechanical condition of vehicle before trips and performs minor repairs such as changing tyres, filters, or bulbs.
- Maintains vehicle interior cleanliness and reports any maintenance needs.
- Informs Dispatcher or Vehicle Fleet Manager about service and repairs needed.
- Replaces other drivers during their absence.
- Performs any other activities upon request of immediate supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with international organizations or NGOs.
- Valid commercial driving license (minimum requirement).
- Valid driving license with a good driving record.
- Experience in general vehicle mechanics, with the ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and minor maintenance.
- Basic English language proficiency (approximately 40% or equivalent working knowledge).
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Commitment to road safety regulations and organizational policies.
