See your match score & applyThe Manager of Asset and Liability Management will oversee cash flow and liquidity management to ensure adequate funding for operational and strategic needs within established risk limits. This role focuses on optimizing cash management systems, enhancing capital structure efficiency, and mitigating financial risks through proactive market analysis and hedging strategies. The incumbent will supervise the ALM team and report to the Director of Treasury and support the overall treasury strategy by ensuring the Fund’s financial stability and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Direct the development and execution of cash flow and liquidity management strategies, ensuring alignment with the Fund’s financial objectives and risk appetite.
- Evaluate and refine cash management processes and systems, driving efficiency across treasury operations to support the GCF’s financial health.
- Lead the identification and deployment of hedging strategies across FX. interest rate and credit exposures, safeguarding against volatility and market fluctuations.
- Collaborate with the investment and finance groups to align cash deployment strategies with portfolio requirements and growth objectives, enhancing liquidity support for operations.
- Maintain key relationships with external partners, ensuring robust cash management and access to liquidity while promoting the Fund’s interests.
- Prepare regular balance sheet metrics for senior management team and relevant stakeholders.
- Build a dashboard to monitor financial market developments to optimize hedging strategies for the Asset and Liability portfolio of the Fund.
- Establish regular monitoring of liquidity and cash flow status, reporting to the Director of Treasury and/or the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on funding adequacy, cash utilization, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Assess and execute deployment strategies for surplus cash to maximize returns, maintaining compliance with internal controls and risk management policies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop ALM staff while promoting a high-performing, collaborative, and client-focused work environment.
- Establish team priorities, allocate resources, monitor performance, and ensure timely delivery of treasury objectives and work programmes.
- Provide technical guidance on Asset and Liability Management
- Contribute to departmental planning, organizational initiatives, and strategic projects impacting Treasury and the broader Office of the Chief Finance and Risk Officer.
- Foster continuous improvement, innovation, knowledge sharing, and strong risk management practices across treasury activities
Requirements
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field; CFA or equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree with an additional two (2) years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree requirement.
- At least 15 years of experience in asset and liability management, treasury, or financial risk management with a proven track record in liquidity planning and risk mitigation.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis, hedging techniques, and cash management systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in leading and managing large and diverse teams.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of prudence and diplomacy.
- Possessing excellent and highly effective communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and creative skills as well as the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on timely and accurate analyses.
- Ability to influence and create buy-in for ideas and initiatives in order to advance goals and strategies.
- Develop vision and implement the strategy for the business area.
- Engages and motivate the team towards continual improvement.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of another UN language would be an advantage
