See your match score & applyThe consultant will provide operational, analytical, and coordination support across the climate investment cycle for the Middle East regional programme. The role includes supporting country engagement, investment processing, portfolio management, and facilitating a smooth transition to the incoming Climate Investment Analyst.
Responsibilities
- Support ongoing country engagement and pipeline development activities across the Middle East portfolio.
- Assist in the review of Concept Notes, Funding Proposals, Readiness proposals, and other investment documents.
- Prepare analytical summaries, briefing notes, presentations, and technical assessments.
- Support appraisal processes by coordinating comments from technical divisions and consolidating review feedback.
- Maintain project information and operational records in relevant internal systems.
- Support portfolio monitoring, implementation tracking, and reporting activities.
- Assist with activities across the project cycle, including Concept Note and Funding Proposal review processes.
- Conduct PROM assessment and coordinate its process.
- Conduct Sanction screening for all new Concept Note and entities.
- Prepare internal briefing materials and decision documents.
- Support for disbursement requests and project amendments, as required.
- Maintain project documentation including board publications.
- Document the status of all active country engagements and investment pipeline activities.
- Prepare handover notes for ongoing projects, country portfolios, and operational processes.
- Support onboarding of the incoming staff member through structured knowledge transfer sessions.
- Provide overlap support during the transition period to ensure continuity of operations.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in finance, Economics, Climate Finance, Environmental Management, Development, Public Policy, or related discipline. A bachelor's degree with additional relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience in climate finance, development finance, project finance, investment analysis, or portfolio management.
- Prior experience in GCF or other international organizations will be valuable.
- Demonstrated experience and familiarity with GCF Sanction screening, Project Risk and Opportunity Mapping to identify, assess, and monitor project risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience in investment appraisal, climate finance operations, or project implementation within international financial institutions, multilateral development banks, development agencies, or similar organizations.
- Working knowledge of climate finance instruments and investment structures, including grants, concessional loans, equity, guarantees, and blended finance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
- Familiarity with GCF or other international organizations, including operational processes and investment cycle, is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
