See your match score & applyThe Young Professional Officer (Climate Change and Natural Resources Management) supports the development and implementation of FAO programmes related to climate change and natural resources management in Nepal. The role involves assisting project leads in managing climate change adaptation, mitigation, and resilience interventions aligned with government priorities and FAO Nepal's Country Programming Framework.
Responsibilities
- Analyse relevant technical social, economic, environmental, and technology information, data and/or statistics for input in various documents.
- Maintain records and update databases and web pages.
- Provide technical support to various projects.
- Collaborate in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops/seminars.
- Participate in the organization and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences, the production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of ongoing (National, Regional and Global) climate change-related programmes and projects in agriculture, forestry, and natural resource management.
- Support the preparation of concept notes and project proposals in climate change and natural resource management, and related resource mobilization efforts.
- Support programme leads in monitoring projects, including compiling inputs for revisions, tracking expenditures and resources, and flagging potential discrepancies against budget lines.
- Assist in maintaining the completeness and quality of data and documentation in FAO's corporate systems for assigned operational field projects and activities.
- Participate and assist in supporting the development of partnerships with relevant organizations and stakeholders including government agencies, UN agencies, NGOs, and the private sector.
- Participate and assist in the organization of policy dialogues, workshops, and consultation meetings in coordination with the programme team and stakeholders.
- Contribute to stakeholder engagement and awareness-raising activities, including preparation of communication and outreach materials.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in areas such as agriculture, climate change, environmental science, natural resource management or any other fields.
- One year of relevant experience in supporting including exposure to the implementation of climate change and natural resource management projects and programmes.
- Working knowledge of English (proficiency - Level C) and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency – level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
- Candidates should be 32 years of age or younger as of 31 December of the year of application.
- Experience in related fields such as climate change, natural resource management, food and nutrition security, agricultural development and disaster risk reduction.
- Experience in the preparation, editing and revision of technical/scientific documents and in organizing meetings and workshops.
- Experience in supporting partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs as well as donors and government institutions and agencies.
- Working knowledge of another FAO language would be an asset.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
