The Veterinary Paraprofessional Business Facilitator will support Animal Health Technicians (AHTs) in business development and delivery of training programs under the Pandemic Fund Project in South Africa. The role involves providing technical assistance, business coaching, monitoring progress, and supporting sustainable primary animal healthcare businesses across three provinces.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated technical support to AHTs during referrals and technical assistance to help navigate challenges and enhance compliance with SAVC rules and regulations.
  • Deliver presentations during meetings on progress updates under business coaching.
  • Organize bi-weekly meetings and activities with AHTs to follow up on their business development.
  • Monitor development of the AHTs businesses and provide progress updates on mentorship, business coaching, and business development to FAO.
  • Provide support services to old and new cohorts of AHTs including technical support.
  • Follow up on progress of 14 AHTs who have received equipment, providing monthly updates about their business setup and challenges with solutions.
  • Review business plans, assist AHTs business profiles, compile work plans, collect and process data of the AHTs businesses.
  • Support development and review of specifications for starter kits and consumables to be procured to support AHTs in various provinces.
  • Present AHTs starter kit requirements to planning and procurement committees.
  • Support efforts to mobilize resources for AHTs businesses and expose AHTs to funding and business opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly reports on progress of AHTs including work conducted within the project.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with FAO team and live calls/webinars.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Veterinary Science for Consultants; Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
  • University degree (or technical degree/certificate) from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Veterinary Science for PSA.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in animal health discipline.
  • Working knowledge (C) in English.
  • Very good knowledge of communication and documentation standards.
  • Very good knowledge of corporate computerized financial systems and administrative procedures and policies.
  • Very good knowledge of the organizational structure.
  • Experience running a Veterinary Practice.
  • Experience working with farmers in communal areas.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in computerized financial/travel/human resources systems and administrative procedures and policies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the use of project management software.
  • Knowledge of key stakeholders in animal health related field.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
