The Driver provides safe, reliable, and efficient transportation and logistical support to the Programme Team of FAO Viet Nam. The role includes driving FAO personnel, managing vehicle maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations to support smooth FAO operations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive FAO vehicles to transport Programme personnel during official missions, field visits, meetings, workshops and other programme-related activities
  • Pick up and drop off personnel at airports, hotels, meeting venues, field sites and other official locations when required
  • Follow appropriate and safe routes and ensure timely arrival at destinations
  • Deliver and collect mail, documents and other items to Government Offices, Embassies, Commercial Establishments, UN Offices when required
  • Ensure that all passengers wear seatbelts at all times in the vehicles
  • Oversee and ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents
  • Adhere to relevant job specific guidelines and policies of FAO such as vehicle management policy
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with Security and Safety standards established at the duty station
  • Ensure cost-saving by driving responsibly
  • Maintain daily vehicle logs, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change, servicing, greasing, repairs and oversee that other drivers do the same
  • Prepare and maintain data of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports
  • Ensure that all official vehicles are kept cleaned, washed and are always in good working condition
  • Make minor repairs and arrange for major repairs
  • Change oil, check tire tread depth and pressure, lights, indicators, wipers, horn, clutch and brakes and ensure timely inspection and addressing of dashboard warning indicators
  • Arrange to complete winterization of office vehicles when required by local traffic regulations or planned travel to snow-affected areas

Requirements

  • Completed high school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license
  • At least three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills
  • Skill in minor vehicle repairs
  • Working knowledge of English language (C1)
  • National of Viet Nam or resident of the country with valid work permit
