See your match score & applyThe Director (FAO Investment Centre) provides strategic vision, guidance and quality assurance for FAO's investment support work. The role involves managing the programme and staff of the Division, coordinating planning and implementation, liaising with partners, and representing FAO in high-level meetings related to investment in agrifood systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision, guidance and quality assurance for the Organization’s investment support work.
- Coordinate the planning of the programme of work and ensure its technical quality and implementation through staff and non-staff resources, with the support of CFI Service Chiefs and Deputy Director.
- Exercise overall management responsibility for the Division’s biennial Programme of Work and Budget, ensuring quality control, progress monitoring and reporting, in support of FAO’s Strategic Framework and in line with results-based management principles.
- Ensure liaison and coordination with, and provide information, advice and support to FAO Member Nations, IFI partners, UN and its specialized agencies and other global, regional and national bodies, on the Division’s programme of work, technical support requirements, capacity development programme (both internal and external) and knowledge products.
- Ensure the formulation, by CFI, of large and complex field projects and programmes, in cooperation with other divisions, departments, and the regional and sub-regional offices of the Organization, and develop and provide guidance and support to priority action programmes.
- Advise the Deputy Director-General, and as necessary, other Divisions/Offices/Centres on areas related to the Division’s fields of competence.
- Collaborate with member countries, IFI and other development partners, UN and its specialized agencies as well as the private sector in promoting public and private sector investments in food security, agriculture and rural development.
- Represent the Organization in high-level meetings and other events dealing with issues relevant to the Division’s mandate and areas of work.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, agriculture sciences, rural infrastructure engineering, environmental sciences, natural resources management, public services management, business administration, public policy or administration, or other closely related fields.
- Minimum fifteen years of extensive experience in the planning and management of agricultural and rural development projects and programmes in developing countries.
- Familiarity with the policies and procedures of the main international financing and other development partners such as the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
- Proven intellectual, managerial and technical leadership of a high order in the relevant subject areas.
- Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
