Associate, Software Developer Full Stack

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is seeking an Associate Full Stack Developer to contribute to the development of a next-generation Client-Led Procurement platform hosted on Microsoft Azure. The role involves working within a cross-functional Agile team to design, implement, test, and deploy both frontend Angular portals and backend Spring Boot microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend domain microservices using Java 21 and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance Angular single-page applications for Internal, Client, Participant, and Public portals.
• Implement and document RESTful APIs following OpenAPI/Swagger standards and contribute to API-first design reviews.
• Work with Azure data tier services including Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Blob Storage, and Cosmos DB.
• Write and maintain Liquibase database migrations ensuring schema safety across environments.
• Author unit, integration, and contract tests (JUnit 5, Spring Boot Test, Pact) and maintain coverage gates.
• Containerise services with Docker and support deployment on AKS via Helm charts and CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and threat-modelling sessions.
• Contribute to observability through structured logging, distributed tracing, and SLO dashboards.
• Operate within EBRD engineering standards including SonarQube quality gates, SAST/DAST scanning, and branch policies.

Requirements

• Proficient in modern Java features including records, sealed classes, pattern matching, virtual threads.
• Experience with Spring Boot 3.x+ including REST controllers, JPA/Hibernate, validation, actuator, autoconfiguration.
• Knowledge of RESTful API design using OpenAPI 3 / Swagger, resource modelling, versioning, and error contracts.
• Experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL including JDBC, JPA mappings, PostgreSQL SQL dialect, and index-aware query design.
• Familiarity with multi-module Gradle builds, buildSrc convention plugins, and version catalogues (libs.versions.toml).
• Testing experience with JUnit 5, Spring Boot Test (@SpringBootTest, @DataJpaTest), Mockito targeting 80%+ coverage.
• Proficient with Git branching strategies, pull-request-based workflow, and code review.
• Frontend experience with Angular 21 including components, services, reactive forms, RxJS, signals, Angular Router, and lazy loading.
• Strong TypeScript skills including strict mode, interfaces, generics, decorators.
• Experience consuming REST APIs using HttpClient with error handling, interceptors, and environment configuration.
• Knowledge of HTML5 / CSS3 responsive layouts and WCAG accessibility awareness.
• Experience with state management using NgRx or equivalent reactive state pattern.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure services including AKS, Azure Storage, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Key Vault, and Managed Identity concepts.
• Dockerfile authoring, multi-stage builds, and container image best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins for automated build, test, and deploy flows.
• Basic observability knowledge including structured logging, correlation IDs, health endpoints (Spring Actuator).
• Understanding of microservices and SOA including service decomposition, bounded contexts, and API contracts.
• Security awareness of OAuth 2.0 / OIDC fundamentals, token validation, and least-privilege data access.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments including sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and Definition of Done.
• Commitment to code quality principles such as SOLID, clean code, peer review, and static analysis.
