See your match score & applyThe Associate Banker will work in the EBRD office in Cairo with the Energy Sector team in Egypt, contributing to all phases of the project cycle including origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The role involves financial, market, integrity, and policy due diligence, legal analysis, documentation, business development, client management, and policy dialogue under the guidance of senior bankers.
Responsibilities
- Work as a project team member on transactions contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution including working with clients, consultants, and other parties.
- Drive the scope and quality of project due diligence including financial, market, integrity, and EBRD policy compliance.
- Prepare internal project documentation such as approval memoranda, financial models, draft term sheets, and presentations.
- Design and process technical co-operation assistance as Technical Cooperation operation leader ensuring alignment with approval schedules.
- Complete all tasks within responsibility areas to a high standard and in line with Bank policies and objectives.
- Implement and monitor projects including compliance with agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement, progress monitoring, financial performance assessment, risk factor evaluation, and covenant compliance.
- Prepare timely and comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions and ensure these are communicated to senior team members.
- Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of Technical Cooperation assignments complying with donor reporting requirements and operational objectives.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by operation leader and provide guidance and supervision to junior team members.
- Assist with marketing and business development efforts as required.
- Develop transaction expertise and expand responsibilities leading to operation leader roles on standard, non-complex transactions under supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant areas.
- Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA is desirable.
- Strong quantitative and numerical skills with ability to interpret financial information and design/use financial models.
- Credit analysis skills including interpretation of accounts and understanding of local and international accounting principles and credit analysis practices.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
- Excellent understanding of relevant systems and processes.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, meet deadlines, and work under time pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Good command of Arabic (oral and written) is an advantage.
- Relevant financial industry experience from investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm operating to international standards, including project finance and corporate finance.
- Practical experience participating in transactions through the full project life cycle.
- Exposure to the Egyptian energy market is preferred.
