See your match score & applyThe Analyst will work with the RPS Kenya-based team covering the Bank’s Sub-Saharan Africa Region to deliver the Bank’s transition mandate. The role involves supporting policy dialogue workstreams, monitoring macroeconomic performance, and contributing to country strategies and policy compacts.
Responsibilities
- Support RPL in monitoring and assessment of growth and reform progress in the region; support the development and implementation of policy dialogue workstreams in areas such as green transition, economic governance, competitiveness, human capital, digitalisation, and capital markets development.
- Support work on transactions or projects, acting as a team member taking responsibility for identified tasks in relation to investments, policy initiative or analytical assignment.
- Support Banking in the delivery of specific investments (including as requested participating in OpsCom and Board presentations), delivering defined policy projects or objectives or preparing a complex and comprehensive analytical assessment.
- Monitor and analyse macroeconomic performance and risks.
- Assess structural reform progress in the countries of the region to provide input into key Bank products, including the Regional Economic Prospects and the annual Transition Report.
- Support preparation of country diagnostics and preparation of country strategies.
- Perform ad hoc assignments, including background research on macroeconomics, sectoral, structural and other policy developments, drafting of briefings, presentations, and short analyses/focus pieces.
- Support preparation of regular growth forecasts and long-term macroeconomic scenarios to be used in the financial models by the Banking department.
- Support the RPL in the preparation of the policy compacts for the region.
Requirements
- Relevant education to at least degree level in economics, with understanding of economic theory, policy and practice, development policy, industrial business, engineering, environmental sciences, environmental or energy economics commerce or equivalent; or comparable professional experience.
- Contributing to project management and to multi-disciplinary teams delivering those projects.
- Familiarity with emerging markets and transition economies.
- Familiarity with finance and investment decision making.
- Knowledge of the technical/industry/policy area in which the relevant team operates.
- Good knowledge of a priority policy area.
- Capacity to communicate complex policy and technical issues to a wide range of stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Ability to build consensus and reach agreement in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Familiarity with a language of the EBRD countries of operations would be very advantageous.
- Computer literate (advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
