The Risk, Compliance and Liaison Specialist ensures compliance with DRC procedures related to risk management, compliance, liaisoning, and Code of Conduct in Türkiye. The role leads DRC’s registration and legal compliance and fosters excellent relations with relevant authorities while implementing capacity building on risk management and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of required risk management and compliance measures in DRC Türkiye, including internal reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate processes related to risk management and compliance with relevant HQ counterparts.
  • Analyse trends from risk management mechanisms and provide management with input and recommendations for improvements.
  • Lead statutory audit processes and ensure recommendations are tracked and followed up.
  • Ensure DRC registration and activities comply with relevant laws in Türkiye.
  • Establish and coordinate excellent relations with external government partners on local and national levels.
  • Coordinate with other actors regarding legal compliance requirements.
  • Advise and support field staff on external relations and legal requirements.
  • Participate in relevant internal and external working groups related to areas of responsibility.
  • Keep track of and advise the SMT on legal cases involving DRC.
  • Lead relations with legal firms representing DRC, including processes related to legal representatives of DRC Türkiye.
  • Ensure implementation of data protection requirements and compliance with Turkish Law on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) and international standards such as GDPR.
  • Support dissemination of the Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies and activities.
  • Organise training activities related to areas of responsibility internally and externally when required.
  • Contribute to a functional Code of Conduct system and a well-functioning accountability system in line with CHS requirements.

Requirements

  • University or master's degree in law (preferable), social sciences or humanities.
  • At least 3 years' experience in managing risks and compliance issues.
  • Previous experience from an international NGO (or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Turkish legislation and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience dealing with government agencies.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Fluent English.
  • Fluent Turkish.
