The Finance Officer will support financial operations to meet internal, external, and legal regulatory requirements, ensuring donor criteria compliance. Responsibilities include budget preparation, budget monitoring, accounting activities, and external audit procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded timely, accurately, and in compliance with DRC's ERP system.
  • Perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations ensuring consistency and accuracy of financial information.
  • Ensure proper accounting handling according to local laws, internal policies, and organizational procedures.
  • Maintain organized and archived supporting documentation ensuring traceability and availability for audits.
  • Ensure timely completion of accounting closures within established deadlines.
  • Monitor budget execution of projects and budgets assigned to the national office.
  • Identify budget deviations and alert management timely.
  • Support preparation of financial reports for donors ensuring compliance with their guidelines and requirements.
  • Verify expenses meet eligibility, reasonableness, and correct budget allocation criteria.
  • Ensure compliance with DRC internal procedures and donor requirements.
  • Support coordination and handling of internal, external audits and donor reviews.
  • Strengthen internal controls to minimize financial risks and ensure transparency in management.
  • Manage and monitor cash flow ensuring availability of funds for operations.
  • Prepare fund requests according to financial planning.
  • Perform banking transactions according to established procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling and control of cash according to DRC policies.
  • Review and process payments to suppliers, staff, and third parties ensuring correct documentation and authorizations.
  • Verify budget availability before payment execution.
  • Support financial processes related to procurement in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Provide financial support to operational and program teams.
  • Support financial and administrative document management required for office functioning.
  • Coordinate with other areas to ensure proper implementation of financial processes.
  • Comply with and promote internal policies including DRC code of conduct.
  • Collaborate in compliance with security norms and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to teamwork and continuous improvement of financial processes.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of work experience with an international NGO in a similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Basic to intermediate English proficiency.
  • High competency in technological tools.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Good communication and document organization skills.
  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English.
