The Community Mobilizer for legal information and awareness is a community-based volunteer equipped with specific legal knowledge to empower and assist communities in understanding and accessing legal rights. The role involves conducting awareness sessions, referring cases to legal staff, and supporting protection and referral mechanisms within displacement-affected populations in Lebanon.

Responsibilities

  • Attend capacity building training as requested by DRC.
  • Conduct individual and group information and awareness raising sessions on selected and tailored legal issues among the community members.
  • Make communities aware of their rights and share information about justice structures and how to access those systems.
  • Refer cases needing further legal service to DRC legal staff.
  • Ensure referral pathways at community level in accordance with DRC procedures.
  • Disseminate updated Service mapping and referral pathways at community level.
  • Share protection concerns and safely identify/disclose and refer individuals facing protection risks (CP, GBV and GP) to relevant DRC staff.
  • Distribute DRC service leaflets.
  • Disseminate Complaint Feedback Mechanism/ PSEA hotline during outreach and/or awareness sessions.
  • Ensure regular reporting of the activities conducted to DRC relevant staff.
  • Coordinate with the legal officer to arrange an agreed upon schedule and tasks planned on a weekly basis.
  • Establish and maintain good relations with targeted community members.
  • Conduct outreach activities to the community to arrange for the information and awareness sessions.

Requirements

  • Be at least 20 years old and have a good reputation in the community.
  • A university degree in law is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Be able to speak, read, and write the official language (Arabic).
  • Have good social contact with the community.
  • Be an active person with a personal interest and willingness to work in the legal field.
  • Good knowledge of the area and overall context.
  • Committed to DRC’s mission, vision and values, and adhere to DRC Code of Conduct and principles.
  • Where possible, be representative of women, Persons with Disabilities, and other marginalized and discriminated persons within the community.
  • Adhere to DRC code of Conduct and Prevention from Sexual exploitation and abuse.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with a humanitarian organization preferred.
  • Minimum experience, at least 1 year.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good understanding for protection and child protection principles.
  • Good team spirit and communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Good facilitation and sensitization skills.
  • Understand psychological first aid and ready to support upon need.
