Spatial Planning Specialist for FCC Project

The Spatial Planning Specialist will lead the operational coordination of thematic working groups on territorial planning for the FCC Project, ensuring integration into host territories and sustainability. The role involves managing territorial synergies, stakeholder engagement, and contributing to project monitoring and governance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross-functional working groups on territorial planning matters, including architecture, infrastructure, socio-economic issues and other related topics, as well as the local committees for the surface sites.
• Facilitate information sharing with territorial stakeholders and identify issues requiring strategic decision-making.
• Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including public authorities, local residents and institutional partners, to identify territorial issues and ensure they are appropriately reflected in the project.
• Identify and promote territorial development opportunities arising from the FCC project, including urban development, economic development and infrastructure synergies, in collaboration with local and regional authorities.
• Contribute to the management of the territorial planning workstream by participating in project reviews, monitoring the project master schedule and preparing supporting documentation for governance bodies.
• Produce consolidated progress reports and contribute to the development of project monitoring tools, including indicators, risks and dashboards.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or Political Science or a related field.
• Proven experience managing territorial planning projects associated with major infrastructure developments, including urban and landscape integration, construction impact management and coordination of territorial interfaces.
• Experience in cross-border or multi-institutional environments would be an asset.
• Experience coordinating and facilitating multi-stakeholder processes, particularly in the context of territorial consultation involving institutional and local stakeholders.
• Experience developing and supporting territorial development initiatives linked to infrastructure projects, including identifying development opportunities and fostering synergies with local stakeholders.
• Project management skills.
• Use of office software packages.
• Knowledge of spatial planning tools, procedures and urban planning policies in France and/or Switzerland.
• Design and management of territorial consultation and stakeholder engagement processes.
• Ability to deliver presentations in a structured and clear way; adjusts style and content to the audience; responds calmly and confidently to questions.
• Ability to accept others in a non-judgemental way and take their point of view into account.
• Structured and organised approach towards work; able to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind.
• Ability to identify, define and assess problems, and take action to address them.
• Voices support for the Organization and its goals; talks about CERN in a positive way.
• Spoken and written proficiency in both English and French.
