You will contribute to the design, development, deployment and operation of physics experiments or experimental setups, working collaboratively in a large international environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct post-doctoral research activities in applied physics and engineering within CERN’s Experimental Physics Department.
- Contribute to the design, development, deployment and operation of physics experiments or experimental setups.
- Collaborate with physicists, engineers and technical experts on large-scale experimental projects involving advanced technologies.
- Contribute to the analysis, documentation and dissemination of results within the experimental collaborations.
Requirements
- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (a few exceptions possible annually).
- By the application deadline, you have a PhD (or will obtain it within six months), and no more than 3 years’ research experience after completion of your PhD degree. Candidates with experience up to 6 years may exceptionally be considered.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- You have a good knowledge of English or French.
- You have a strong background in applied physics, engineering or a closely related field.
- You have research experience in applied physics and engineering, ideally linked to the design, development or operation of experimental systems.
- You are interested in pursuing a career in research or academia and in taking an active role within a research project.
- You are motivated to contribute to large-scale experimental programmes in an international research environment.
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to experimental systems and technologies.
- You are able to work collaboratively within large, international and multidisciplinary teams.
- You communicate effectively in a scientific and technical environment.
- You are able to work independently while contributing to shared project objectives.
- Your PhD is in the fields of Applied Physics and Engineering.
