See your match score & applyAs a mechanical technician at CERN, you will assemble models, prototypes and associated equipment within a research and development programme dedicated to high-temperature superconducting magnets. You will contribute to the design, manufacture and assembly of superconducting coils, components and tooling.
Responsibilities
- Produce high-temperature superconductor-based magnet coils.
- Assemble superconducting magnet models, prototypes and associated manufacturing tools.
- Manufacture and modify mechanical parts using conventional machining techniques, such as milling, turning and forming.
- Manage component stocks for assigned assemblies, initiate and follow up manufacturing requests and purchase orders, and perform acceptance tests.
- Prepare production and quality-control documentation, including procedures, test and measurement reports and component traceability.
- Produce computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of components and tooling, starting from 3D models.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in the mechanical manufacturing and assembly of electromechanical equipment, including conventional machining.
- Experience preparing and using quality documentation, including procedures, test and measurement reports, and component traceability.
- Experience reading mechanical drawings, including ISO-GPS dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Previous experience with superconducting systems would be an asset.
- Experience using mechanical CAD tools; specific experience with CATIA would be an asset.
- Technical certificate or general secondary education or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A valid driving licence.
- Ability to work in radiation controlled areas.
- Ability to perform interventions in underground installations.
